GAME REPORT
4 JULY 2011
LEOPARD DELIGHT

On the night of 4th July George and I took an American family of six on a night safari. They said they hoped they could see a leopard to fulfil their dream holiday. That evening our first hour was spent spotting bat eared fox, white tailed mongoose, cape hare, elands, zebras, waterbuck and our famous Rothschild giraffe. Then in a blink of an eye we spotted a male leopard emerging from the tall grass into an open area dotted with beautiful acacia trees. He majestically strutted towards the impala. For the next 20 minutes we followed his action in anticipation of a kill. The guest had a superb view of the leopard and I had my hands full to convince the guests not to use camera with flashlights to scare the beautiful animal away. The leopard eventually disappeared in to dense bush and lots of clapping and cries of joy followed. The sighting was even more special  as the guests were celebrating the USA National Independent Day. They requested us to sing them a safari song and we sang the "Jambo Bwana Habari Gani" and within no time we were all singing together. We returned to the lodge and they had their dinner in a beautiful setting with candles and a blazing fire to keep them warm.
